Amy

Photograph by Julie Padgett

Julie writes about her image:

My image of Amy has a fun back story.  She contacted me via Instagram in June 2020 wanting to collaborate on a photoshoot.  She is a model and photographer who travelled here from Colorado and set up photoshoot plans while visiting here.  We photographed the begining of July locally, in the Redwoods, and at the Coast.  It was a fun collaboration with great energy.

The following is my data for this image:  Nikon Z6, lens 70 to 200, 1/250 sec at f2.8, 140 mm, ISO 500.

Congratulations, Julie, on a great photo!  Look for her winning image to be featured in the Daily Courier very soon!

A Prayer

Photograph by Cynthia Briseno

Cynthia writes about her image:

My girlfriend and I went camping, and did some antique shopping in Brookings.   During the camping we were allowed to have a fire (of course way before these fires!), and I used my crystal ball to shoot the fire.  We spoke about Halloween and decided on this year’s planning, so on the way home, we went into the redwoods. I was inspired by the red items we had purchased, and asked her to step into the forest for the shot.  Once home, I made a composite of the ball and her shot.  It’s the beginning of my favorite time of year – WITCHY HALLOWEEN!!

This photo was shot with my Canon Mark IV, with a Sigma 24-70 lens.  Settings were ISO 250, F8.0,1/4 second.

Woods Pup

Photograph by Ross Steensland

Woods pup was taken last fall after a long day working in the woods.  I saw my coworker’s puppy playing with big brown maple leaves while the last rays of golden light came down. I was inspired to capture such a picturesque scene and thus began the process of trying to get a hyper puppy to sit still.
The photo was taken with a Canon 6DmkII and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens. Camera settings were f4, 1/500 sec @ 140mm

I have always enjoyed taking photos, but I did not acquire a serious interest until late 2017 when my finance persuaded me to purchase my first DSLR. Since then I have jumped in head first while learning and practicing everything I can. I enjoy photographing landscape, automotive, aerial imagery, and I work real estate photography in my spare time.   I joined Caveman Camera Club in 2018 from the suggestion of a friend.

Cuernos Glow

Photograph by    Pam Arbogast

This photograph was taken in mid-March, 2020, in Torres Del Paine National Park, in Chilean Patagonia. It was the day of our much anticipated arrival at the park, after two weeks exploring wine country, and the lakes district in Chile. My husband and I had spent many hours in our rental car, driving to the park, and were eager to get out, hike, and photograph this amazing place. This hike especially had been recommended to us because the famously fierce Patagonian winds were NOT blowing on this particular afternoon. I shot this photo as we finished our hike and the evening glow lit up the wall next to Los Cuernos (The Horns). I saw these mountains several more times in our remaining four days in the park, but this was the most beautiful view. Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short by a day as the park closed due to measures to control the spread of corona virus. Canon 7D. 24-70 Canon lens at 33m, ISO 400, f9.5, 1/125

Congratulations! Pam on a beautiful image. Look for Pam’s image in the Daily Courier sometime very soon!

A Storm Brewing

Photograph by Rudy Dierks

“This photo was taken in late April in the Alabama Hills Recreation Area of the eastern Sierras near Lone Pine, California.  I really enjoy photographing this area, as not only is Mt. Whitney the backdrop, but the location is famous for it’s rugged rocky scenery.  I was fortunate enough to be there when wildflowers were in bloom”.

Congratulations! Rudy on a beautiful image.  Look for Rudy’s image sometime soon in the Daily Courier.
