Bridget writes about her photo: This is a composite of two separate images. The subject was taken at the beginning of September 2022 while on a shoot in Arizona, and the mirror was taken at the end of September 2022 at my home. I use a Nikon Z6 to capture my images. The subject image was taken with a 50mm lens and the mirror was taken using a 24-70mm lens. I then put the images together in Photoshop.

Deadline is Sunday Oct. 2nd to get your entries to Dave.
Prints: Please send Dave a digital copy of what you print ( let him know it’s a print), so we can all see it projected during discussion. Don’t forget to bring your actual print ! Backing for the big ones is helpful. Any subject is fine. See you soon.
See Dave’s email or the website for entry details.
Those who attend the WRPC light painting education night will be in for a ton-O-fun and a opportunity to capture some unique images. Who knows,…you may get bitten by the light painting bug yourself. Helpful suggestions I offer are… #1). PLEASE get acquainted with using bulb mode on your particular camera prior to attending. Practice setting different lengths of exposure time “on the fly” as this is difficult to learn in the dark and fumbling with the menu in real time. #2). Bring a shutter release cable if you own one, but it is not entirely necessary if you learn bulb mode. #3). Bring your tripod, this one is a no-brainer…and maybe bring a small flashlight, just in case.
When I do light painting at home, solo, knowing how to change my ISO and f/stop quickly and without turning on lights is very helpful. Lastly, have fun. The last time we did this members had a great time and went home with some unique images to practice editing on. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!! See you there…… Dale.
Can’t wait! ****We will have two groups so there will time to try various light painting tools and scenarios. There is pavement to put tripods on. The exact location is Reinhart All Sports Park near the small Park house on the River Vista side of the park (the backside of the little duck pond). We can gather under the pergola there. Parking is a bit before and after the pergola. Here’s a map. Try to be on time and don’t forget the essentials Dale listed above.

This photograph of jockey Taylor Smith on July 4th at Grants Pass Downs was taken while panning with the camera. Moving the camera left to right in a smooth motion while synced with the speed of the horse creates a sense of motion and yet retains detail. The racetrack is the perfect place to play with this technique. The camera settings for this particular shot were ISO 250, 124mm, f10 at 1/100 second.
Congratulations! Susan (lol, it’s me). Look for Susan’s image soon in the Daily Courier.
We will meet at The Newman United Methodist Church, 132 NE B Street, Grants Pass, 97526 on September 7 at 7:00 pm
Digital Photo Sharing submissions are due to David Church our projectionist by Sept 4th. Please see Dave’s email below. Bring a print! too for discussion.
